What is wastewater, and why treat it?

Every day, wastewater goes down toilets and drains in homes, schools, businesses and factories and then flows into City's sewer system. Runoff from rain and melting snow, street and sidewalk washing, and other outdoor activities flows into catch basins in the streets and from there into the sewers; and then conveyed together to the City's treatment plants; Wastewater treatment plants, also called sewage treatment plants or water pollution control plants, remove most pollutants from wastewater before it is released to local waterways;

If the term "wastewater treatment" is confusing to you, you might think of it as "sewage treatment." If wastewater is not properly treated, then the environment and human health can be negatively impacted;

Wastewater treatment Process

 

At the City's wastewater treatment plants, wastewater undergoes following major processes: primary treatment, secondary treatment, disinfection and sludge treatment: Primary and secondary treatments remove about 85% to 95% of pollutants from the wastewater before the treated wastewater is disinfected and discharged into local waterways; Sludge, the byproduct of the treatment process, is digested for stabilization and is then dewatered for easier handling. The resulting material, known as biosolids, is then applied to land to improve vegetation or processed further as compost or fertilizer;

 

Water treatment chemical is necessary for treating industrial water, waste water and water for daily use, chemicals are used during wastewater treatment in an array of processes to expedite disinfection. These chemical processes, which induce chemical reactions, are called chemical unit processes, and are used alongside biological and physical cleaning processes to achieve various water standards. There are several distinct chemical unit processes, including chemical coagulation, chemical precipitation, chemical oxidation and advanced oxidation, ion exchange, and chemical neutralization and stabilization, which can be applied to wastewater during cleaning.

Chemical Precipitation

Chemical precipitation is the most common method for removing dissolved metals from wastewater solution containing toxic metals. To convert the dissolved metals into solid particle form, a precipitation reagent is added to the mixture. the process works is dependent upon the kind of metal present, the concentration of the metal, and the kind of reagent used. In hydroxide precipitation, a commonly used chemical precipitation process, calcium or sodium hydroxide is used as the reagent to create solid metal hydroxides. and the following are the main chemicals offered by hoo chemtec in this procession:Caustic soda flake,caustic soda pearl,caustic soda solid, Aluminium sulphate,Polyaluminium chloride,Ferric chloride,Ferrous sulphate etc;

Chemical Coagulation

This chemical process involves destabilizing wastewater particles so that they aggregate during chemical flocculation. Fine solid particles dispersed in wastewater carry negative electric surface charges (in their normal stable state), which prevent them from forming larger groups and settling. an anionic flocculant is introduced to the mixture. Because the flocculant reacts against the positively charged mixture, it either neutralizes the particle groups or creates bridges between them to bind the particles into larger groups. After larger particle groups are formed, sedimentation can be used to remove the particles from the mixture.

Chemical Oxidation and Advanced Oxidation

With the introduction of an oxidizing agent during chemical oxidation, electrons move from the oxidant to the pollutants in wastewater. The pollutants then undergo structural modification, becoming less destructive compounds. Alkaline chlorination uses chlorine as an oxidant against cyanide. However, alkaline chlorination as a chemical oxidation process can lead to the creation of toxic chlorinated compounds, and additional steps may be required. Advanced oxidation can help remove any organic compounds that are produced as a byproduct of chemical oxidation, through processes such as steam stripping, air stripping, or activated carbon adsorption.

Aluminium Sulphate 

Excellent in drinking water applications

Wide range of forms and quality grades

Hoo chemtec ‘s Aluminum Sulfates are available as granule, flake, and powder materials The products are based on trivalent Al (Al3+) and are manufactured to low iron (iron≤0.05%)&”iron-free” (iron≤0.005%) content. The products are easy-to-dissolve into solution, aluminum sulfate especially suited for drinking water and industrial waste water

Non-ferric Aluminum Sulfate 17% ,”iron-free” is a coagulant for water treatment based on trivalent (Al3+) aluminum compounds. It can be used for drinking water clarification, and many other industrial applications .

 Ferric Aluminum Sulfate ,low iron, is a easy-to-dissolve coagulant, that can be used for most wastewater treatment processes. It is based on active trivalent aluminum and iron compounds.

Aluminium Chloride 

Highly efficient coagulant for phosphorous removal

Excellent storage performance also at low temperatures

HOO CHEMTEC ‘S Aluminum Chloride are effective primary coagulants based on trivalent Al (Al3+). The products are used in a variety of municipal and industrial applications, primarily for color, organic matter, suspended solids and phosphorus removal.  High quality grades can also be used as raw material in industrial manufacturing.

Aluminum Chlorohydrate

Highly concentrated,and high performance

Very little effect on pH and consumption of alkali.

HOO CHEMTEC ‘s Aluminum Chlorohydrate (ACH) is a high quality, high performance coagulant that is commonly used in both municipal and industrial treatment processes to remove particles and organic matter. The highly charged Al in combination with very high basicity of 83%-90% offers great performance over a variety of different water conditions. 

Hoo chemtec’s ACH offers higher performance at a lower dosage than more conventional coagulants, with very little effect on Ph and consumption of alkali. ACH is used as the standard water quality treatment for drinking water and living water.

ACH Cosmetic grade commonly used antiperspirant (such as check Khan dew, Rollerball) ,but also the production of the main raw material for AZG (aluminium zirconium glycin);

Ferric Chloride:

HOO CHEMTEC ‘s Ferric Chlorides anhydrous 98%mini, are effective primary coagulants based on trivalent iron (Fe3+). They are excellent for both drinking and wastewater treatment applications, including phosphorus removal, sludge conditioning and struvite control.The products also prevent odor and corrosion by controlling hydrogen sulfide formation.

Ferrous Sulfate (Dry powder)

These polymers are offered in a standard range plus in extremely high molecular weight ;such as low molecular weights for low shear applications;& very high molecular weights for high shear environments

Anionic polyacrylamide(APAM)  high molecular weight are used for flocculating negatively charged particles by interaction with suitable cationic adsorption sites e.g. Ca2+, Mg2+, Al3+, Fe2+and Fe3+. ,wide applications such as raw water clarification, fermentation by-product recovery, sugar juice clarification and process water recycling.

Nonionic polyacrylamides(NPAM): are very effective in mineral and textiles processing applications.

Cationic polyacrylamide (CPAM) as flocculants that are particularly effective in primary clarification, sludge thickening and  sludge dewatering applications in the municipal area.
